Direct Admission
For a potential direct admission (a patient you have seen or are seeing in your office), contact the Admitting Resident for the day:
Depending on the specific plan of care, your patient may be admitted to the Emergency Department of »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital, Delaware or directly to the most appropriate inpatient care unit (such as surgery, neurology, oncology, cardiology and rehabilitation).
Patients may also be admitted to the:
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Patients may be transferred to the NCH Emergency Department, which includes round-the-clock access to pediatric specialists as well as advanced imaging capabilities. Patients may be admitted directly to the most appropriate inpatient care unit (such as surgery, neurology, oncology, cardiology, and rehabilitation), to ourÌýNeonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), or to ourÌýPediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)Ìýinpatient rooms.
